Based on one of the biggest medical scandals in Kazakhstan in 2006, BALABAN tells the heart-wrenching and inspiring story of two coming-of-age girls, Ardak and Zhana, who strive to find their way to freedom despite their different family backgrounds and their shared struggle with HIV, which they contracted from infected blood transfusions.
As Ardak and Zhana embark on their journey to lead a new life in Paris, they form a strong and enduring companionship. Along the way, they must summon great courage and determination to confront the dangers that lie ahead. With its captivating plot, compelling performances, and breathtaking backdrop of Almaty, Kazakhstan, BALABAN promises to take the audience on an unforgettable and emotional journey in the theater.
【導演簡介】埃蘇魯．歐納蘭 Aysulu Onaran
生於哈薩克的歐納蘭為一名導演及作家。本片《老鷹少女的逃跑計劃》為歐納蘭首部執導的作品。她曾於2021年發起一項名為「我的身體，我的選擇」的計畫，用以幫助受到性別相關虐待的女性。
Born in Kazakhstan, Onaran is a talented director and writer. BALABAN marks her debut as a director. In 2021, she initiated a groundbreaking program called “My Body My Choice,” which aims to support women in overcoming gender abuse and related challenges.
