Aardman Animations’ series Lloyd of the Flies will be free to stream in the U.S. starting August 6 after Fox-owned AVOD platform Tubi picked up U.S. and Canadian rights to the show.
Lloyd of the Flies is Aardman’s first-ever cg series produced at its Bristol-based studio. The show debuted on CITV in the U.K. in September 2022 to strong reviews. It was financed as part of the BFI’s Young Audience Content Fund, which was later axed by Boris Johnson’s conservative government.
Lloyd of the Flies was created and directed by Matthew Walker and co-directed by Jane Davies. Executive producers are Sarah Cox and Beth Parker, co-executive producers are Sean Clarke, Kerry Lock, and Alison Taylor, and the show’s producer is Jacqueline White.
Synopsis: “The series follows the adventures of Lloyd B Fly, a housefly and the middle child of 451. Lloyd lives with his parents, his little sister PB and their 224 maggot siblings inside a compost bin they call home.
In the series, Lloyd and PB are usually accompanied by Lloyd’s best friend, Abacus Woodlouse, and eccentric tag-along, Cornea Butterfly. Together they explore the strange world beyond the compost bin, where there is no shortage of lessons for Lloyd to very nearly learn.”
The show’s voice cast includes Tom Rosenthal, Alex Lawther, and Lauren Patel.
Later this year, Aardman will world premiere a new vr production titled Wallace & Gromit: The Gran Getway in competition at Venice Immersive and its latest animated feature Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget on Netflix.
