Germany will contribute EUR 30 million for the purchase of equipment to restore the Ukrainian energy infrastructure damaged by Russian shelling.
This is said in a statement released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, Ukrinform reports.
“Within the framework of the German-Ukrainian Energy Partnership, the Federal Government of Germany announced a EUR 30 million contribution for the purchase of equipment for restoring Ukraine’s energy infrastructure damaged by Russian shelling. The corresponding funds will be directed to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, established by the Energy Community Secretariat,” the report says.
According to the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko, the purchased equipment will help to restore electricity supply to the population as soon as possible during this winter.
In April, the Energy Community created the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. Consolidated funds from the fund’s donors are used to restore the energy infrastructure damaged or destroyed as a result of hostilities in Ukraine. The first donor to the Fund was the Danish government.
