Gas prices plummeting in Thunder Bay

Stations on the north side of town have dipped below $1.40 a litre in some cases, while stations on Fort William First Nation are now below $1.25 a litre — though several Arthur Street stations remain at $1.686.

THUNDER BAY — Motorists gassing up in Thunder Bay might want to avoid the Arthur Street corridor.

Fuel prices have plummeted on the north side of town, to as low as $1.38 for a litre of regular unleaded at East Avenue’s Simply Gas.

Over at Fort William First Nation, Bannon’s Gas Bar has dropped it’s price for a litre of regular unleaded to $1.239, the lowest price in the province, according to OntarioGasPrices.com.

Meanwhile, stations on Arthur Street have not followed suit, holding firm at $1.689 a litre as of Tuesday afternoon, slightly above the Ontario average of $1.641.

At least four stations have dropped below $1.40 a litre, while three more are less than $1.45 a litre.

Thunder Bay now boasts the eight lowest-priced stations in Ontario.

Motorists fuelling up in nearby communities aren’t so lucky.

Three stations in Nipigon are charging $1.939 a litre, while stations in Emo and Kenora have remained above $1.90 a litre.
