Permanent representatives of EU member states today agreed on new sanctions against Iran over supplying combat kamikaze drones to Russia that are used for barbaric attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure facilities.
According to Ukrinform, the relevant statement was published on the Twitter page of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council.
“COREPER II (Permanent Representatives Committee – ed.) approved sanctions against Iran in record time! After 3 days of talks, EU ambassadors agreed on measures against entities supplying Iranian drones that hit Ukraine. Written procedure is over, sanctions come into force this afternoon on publication in the Official Journal of the EU,” the statement reads.
The Czech Presidency of the EU Council said that EU states decided to freeze the assets of three individuals and one entity responsible for drone deliveries.
The EU is “also prepared to extend sanctions to four more Iranian entities that already featured in a previous sanctions list,” it concluded.
