Indigenous women entrepreneurs urged to apply for funding

Deadline to apply to Indigenous Women Entrepreneurship Fund is this Friday.

Indigenous women entrepreneurs whose businesses have been negatively impacted by the pandemic may be eligible for a grant to help offset costs.

Eligible women can receive a $2,000 and a one-year membership to the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) through the organization’s Indigenous Women Entrepreneurship Fund.

Funded by LNG Canada and Paper Excellence, the pot of money is aimed at helping Indigenous women-owned businesses that have been disproportionately disadvantaged because of COVID-19.

To qualify, the business must be at least 51 per cent owned by an Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) woman; must be for profit; and must be registered in Canada.

Twenty recipients will be selected via lottery.

The deadline to apply is Friday, May 20 at 4 p.m.
